Frequently Asked Questions
carNAVi FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) hopefully helps you to find solutions for questions others had asked already before. The site is offering a global search, simply key in the topic in search field on top. Or just browse the categories located on the left side. Subscribe to one of the RSS feeds and your browser’s bookmarks will be updated automatically. Simply click on one of the orange RSS icons to subscribe. You are also welcome to participate in this portal and submit your questions and – if possible – the answers to the knowledge base. Simply use the menu on top of the screen to add your questions or check what questions are still open – our technicians will reply your submissions and after editing we will enter the questions in the FAQ database.
How to contribute data to carNAVi
If you drive a road, that is not in the map, just switch on the ‘Track recording’ function, you can find this in Settings – Start record track. Activate this function at the beginning of the road and the unit will now automatically save the coordinates of the track you are driving. If you are recording a seperated multi lane road (like EDSA is), try to stay in the middle of all lanes, if the traffic situation allows this. For better accuracy please drive the road in both directions – no need to make a seperate track from it. If there are u-Turns within, set a waypoint ‘U-TURN’ there. Of course you can also send us bike trails, hiking trails etc. Everything is welcome.
What are Points of Interest?
A point of interest, or POI, is a specific point or location that someone may find useful or interesting. An example is a point on the Earth representing the location of a restaurant or museum. The term is widely used in cartography, especially in electronic variants including GPS navigation software. In this context the synonym waypoint is also common. A point of interest specifies, at minimum, the coordinates (latitude and longitude) of the POI. A name or description for the POI is usually included …
